Beluga is a tank! With one exception

The AtomRC Beluga is an outstanding FPV RC plane that truly shines in the hands of hobbyists seeking a reliable and versatile flying experience. With its 1270mm wingspan, twin-engine design, and independent elevators, rudders, and flaps, this EPP-crafted aircraft delivers exceptional control and stability at medium to low speeds. The streamlined fuselage offers ample space for FPV gear, making it a dream for FPVers who prioritize immersive flight footage. Its reinforced carbon rod wings ensure durability, and the plane’s balanced wing loading makes it a breeze to assemble and fly, even for those with moderate experience. Paired with a 6S battery, it cruises effortlessly at 75 km/h and can hit 100 km/h with plenty of power to spare—truly a joy to pilot.
However, the front landing gear is a glaring weak point. Poorly designed and prone to instability, it struggles to handle the plane’s weight and speed during takeoff and landing, often leading to wobbly or failed attempts. This flaw makes the Beluga far better suited as a belly lander, where it excels without the gear holding it back. Ditching the landing gear altogether enhances its performance, allowing smooth, forgiving landings on grass or soft surfaces. For FPV pilots who don’t mind skipping the retractable gear, the Beluga is an absolute standout—a belly-landing beauty that soars where it counts.

Extremely High Quality Hard to Weight and Balance

Very happy with the service and product. Beluga is probably the most durable airframe in my hanger. I had difficulty getting the weight and balance correct on a 4s. Needs a lot of weight in the nose. You have to fly this plane from the moment you take off. It is however extremely resilient. I crashed this thing three times and it looks as good as the day it came out of the box. Its not the most stable airframe but I can't say I'm disappointed. Plan on getting weight in the nose but don't expect it will stay on it has tiny magnets and it will take some weight as far forward as you can get it to fly well.

Wow

AtomRc Beluga
In one word.... "Wow"!
All AtomRc planes are excellent, with a very wide speed envelope and impressive performance. And it is a very good experience to fly them.
For those who build and fly the Beluga, it is clear that the designer had an understanding and goal to build an FPV plane.
The construction was very easy. I made a few minor changes. And a few glue points for reinforcement.
The ESCs and motors are designed for 2-6S. Due to the KV value of the motors (1,300) I thought it would be right to start at 4S (18,720 RPM). The first flight went just fine. But there was a significant lack of power. A large part of the flight was at 75% throttle.
Still, I flew a few minutes to finish trim.
The second flight was with a 6S battery. Wow!
After a run of about 20 meters, the plane disconnected and took off without my intervention.
Cruising speed (50% throttle), around 75 km/h. Current consumption 13A.
85% throttle speed about 100 km/h.
11 minutes of flight, 2,400 mAh...
Amazing plane.
The landing was effortless... around 55-50 km/h.
I was so excited I didn't have time to check the stall speed... but it's under 45 km/h. Video in preparation.

Horrible experience

This is the worst plane I have got from atomrc. Missing hardware, no instructions for adding retracts, all right hand props. And zero customer service. They don't even have the props in replacement parts, what's up with that. Order 7575

Extremely Disappointed – Poor Design, Bad QC, and Missing Parts

I had high hopes for the AtomRC Beluga, but this has been, without a doubt, the worst purchase I’ve made from AtomRC. From the ordering process to the final product, everything about this experience has been frustrating and disappointing.

First, the shipping was a complete mess. The website stated the model was in stock—there was no indication of a backorder—but it still took well over a month to arrive. When it finally did, I quickly realized I hadn’t received everything I paid for. I ordered the RTH version with the landing gear and battery quick connector, yet only the RTH version was in the box. Now I have to go through the hassle of waiting another month for parts that should have been included in the first place.

The build quality is shockingly poor. The flaps are warped at the wing root, and the vertical stabilizer is misaligned by six degrees to the left—an unacceptable manufacturing defect for an aircraft meant for stable flight. The tail section is a complete joke—it attaches to the fuselage with just two screws, but the fit is so loose that the entire tail wobbles. This is a critical flaw that will almost certainly cause problems at speed. While I could try to wedge it in place or heat-correct the flaps, I shouldn’t have to fix major design issues on a brand-new plane.

What’s most frustrating is that this aircraft clearly never went through any serious testing or quality control before release. There’s no way anyone at AtomRC could have built, flown, and approved this design without noticing these glaring issues. It feels like they rushed it to market without caring about actual performance or reliability.

I previously purchased the Swordfish and was thoroughly impressed, but the Beluga is an absolute failure in comparison. This is a huge step backward for AtomRC, and unless they take serious action to improve their design and quality control, I won’t be buying from them again. If you’re considering this aircraft, save your money-you’ll either be dealing with months of delays, missing parts, or a flawed design that needs significant work to be remotely flyable.
