Amazing little plane!

This plane is excellent. First let me start with the few little downsides, as there aren't many

Cons:
-Slightly tail heavy, battery compartment could be extended a little forward,
-Control eyelet threads not long enough.l, leading to me having to install lock nuts backwards.
-Servos don't like the cold.

Pros:
-Very good kit quality.
-Elevons move extremely freely with no prep or modification. (No other manufacture can figure this out)
-Motor and esc are very nice. Servos too except for in the cold.
-Two winglet options.
-Very reasonable flying weight.

I was extremely pleased after opening up this kit to see the fit and finish. The elevons move very freely and have great reinforcement. Absolutely no flex for the entire length. The hatch and nose plug fits perfectly.

The esc doesn't come pre soldered which I find is a bonus. Most plug and plays I need to take apart the esc anyway and adjust wire lengths. The motor is very nice quality. The servos are also very nice, except for their response to cold weather. They are nice and quiet, move freely and are precise. However in weather below freezing they become extremely sluggish. To the point where I don't want to fly because they aren't responding well enough. Some people report it getting bad enough they can't control the plane. The stock motor and prop combo are very "hot". The motor will draw near 25a on 4s. This is WAY over powered. I find anything above 2/3rds power doesn't make a difference in the air meaning there isn't enough pitch on the prop. I imagine either 3 cell would be better for this, a lower kv, or go with a higher pitch prop for crazy speed. A smaller motor would also be cool for less tail weight.

The interior of the cabin is lined with 3mm plywood on the bottom. This isn't needed, it just adds weight and takes up battery space. Thankfully the whole plywood plate just pops out with a bit of pressure. Without this you can easily fit a 4 cell [****] cutting foam. Same with the plywood wingtips that the winglets mount to. They aren't needed. I popped those off too. You can then glue the winglets right to the foam wing. They fit perfectly and you can save 20 grams this way. Most of that from behind the cg meaning less nose weight as well.

The battery hatch is made very nicely, but it should be the other way around . Having tabs on the front and the magnets on the back. Then you wouldn't need the thumb screw to hold the front down.

With my prior weight saving methods as well as not using the included led bar, I was able to balance my plane with only 17g of additional weight. However if the nose was extended a little bit this weight wouldn't be needed and you could use a smaller battery. That being said the planes weight ready to fly is very reasonable. Mine is 570 grams with a 2800mah 4s Li-On pack. I only have two flights on mine so far, about 10 minutes. But I came down with over 2000mah left both times meaning 30+ minutes is not a problem even when leaving plenty of reserve power. The plane is also very stable and will slow down much better than other similar wings.

I 100% recommend this plane. I will be ordering a second to outfit with a different loadout. I'd love to see AtomRC make another version of this with a slightly bigger nose allowing the battery to be moved forward. Either extend the nose a bit or make the camera compartment and the battery compartment one big combined area. I'd also like to see the servo issue in the cold resolved.

Disappointed so far

I'm in the process of putting this plane together. i'm a big fan of the other Atom RC planes but so far the quality isn't there on this one. the kit i received is supposed to be a PNP kit but its missing parts and some parts don't seem like they're for this plane.
Servos don't fit in the cutouts in the wings.
props missing
the holes in the wings for antennas seem unnecessary.
wing pods have vented covers which make it hard to mount gps and receiver in the correct positions.

I'm hopefully going to maiden it tomorrow so I'll see how it flies.

Amazing

Shipping was extremely fast everything included and set up other than having to attach the wings. Watch is understandable great quality everything works perfectly unfortunately I have not had a chance to fly it because I gotta travel a bit to be able to fly because I live too close to an airport But I love everything about it and this company. I’m looking forward to potentially doing other reviews soon. maybe even on my YouTube I would definitely recommend the one I ordered, which is the bat or even the flying fish. Looks pretty neat. Might be the next one I buy.

Theer bat kit

Fantastic flying wing and great hardware for a kit version. It came with the led lights and they gave the STL file for the camera nose for free to 3D print. ATOMRC has been making great flying planes and hope they continue making usable and well thought out aircraft.
